Hello, dear fans and friends, do you remember how I told you about the amazing backwaters of Kerala, India, about a year and a half ago? Of course you do. And have you been there to witness all the beauty with your own eyes? Sure you have! But just in case you haven’t, I’ll show you something extra, delivered to me by Kerala Tourism (who really liked my post by the way).
Kerala Tourism has created a new campaign to attract more visitors to the area. Normally I don’t really care much for media campaigns and such, but this one really caught my attention. “To promote this unique water stretches, we have launched the campaigns on digital platforms such as Twitter and Facebook”, they say. “Visit http://greatbackwaters.com/ and be fascinated with the 8 Lakh fans of God’s Own Country from world over.” So I did. And I loved the new website! You can check out the entire area with 44 rivers, a vast network of lakes, 1500 kilometers of labyrinthine canals, snake boat races, over 300 species of birds, floating markets… “Showcasing the magnificence of Kerala backwaters, the campaign has reached out to travelers and nature lovers from across the world.”
The images they sent me are fascinating as well. Just look at this and tell me you don’t want to book your ticket now…
Anyway, what you’ll want to do is rent a houseboat of some kind. To get to the backwaters from the airport of Kochi or Thiruvananthapuram, you’ll probably need to rent a car or go by train or bus.
