theetthe.ego.tripper, aka the.e.t, is a travel aficionado and journalist from Antwerp, Belgium. Since he doesn’t like to talk about himself in the third person, he will now switch to first person. Switch. There we go, much better. First off, I feel I should apologize for any spelling or grammar mistakes throughout this blog. English is not my mother tongue, so please don’t feel the need to correct any errors, as I’m not interested in upgrading my English skills. Besides, this website is more about sharing a feeling, a passion I have for travelling (or is it traveling?) and have had since my first citytrip to Paris so many years ago. Since I graduated in 2003 I’ve spent most of my (spare) money on airplane/train/bus tickets and hotels in foreign countries. Luckily my job allows me to travel as well on a pretty regular bases. Which is nice. As a result I’ve been to a few countries on all continents (not if you count Antarctica as a continent) and I’ve realized I haven’t seen much at all. There are so many places I haven’t been to, so many places I still want to go to. So much to see, so little time. Frustrating! And that’s why I’m writing this blog. To kill time until my next trip abroad and talk about my one passion.

And now in a nutshell: the.ego.tripper, does not enjoy being in a nutshell, 33 years of age, based in Antwerp, pug owner, lover of Thai food, slightly afraid of flying (I know, it’s strange), photographer with a Samsung Galaxy NX (a blogger’s best friend!).

And yes, I am a bit of an ego-tourist:

1. Ego-Tourist (Urban Dictionary)
Where globetrotters head for increasingly obscure locales, not for the experience but for the bragging rights of having been somewhere exotic and difficult while looking down on any adventures that don’t involve an amusing incident with a nasty local disease / local militia / extreme weather event. Ego-tourists have way too much attachment to words like ‘authentic’ and ‘unspoilt’.
“Bob is boring me stiff with his stories from the Congo. He’s such an ego-tourist.”

the.ego.tripper loves family resorts, bingo, kids peeing in the pool, breakfast buffets, hotel animation, tourist traps and group day tours.
